$700,000 Medical Malpractice Settlement

$700,000 Medical Malpractice Settlement

Recently, we were successful in securing a $700,000 settlement for one of our medical malpractice clients who sustained injuries during a chiropractor visit. The client suffered from a stroke that we believe resulted from a cervical spine manipulation during a routine chiropractic visit.

Cervical spine manipulations can be dangerous if performed incorrectly, as the vertebral artery is very susceptible to neck injuries. This artery is located at the base of the skull, leading to the brain from the top of the cervical spine area. Chiropractic spine manipulation subjects this area to sudden and vigorous twisting motions, sometimes causing the vertebral artery to stretch to the point of tearing.

Lacerations in the vertebral artery can lead to a fatal stroke in the brain or brainstem. While it is possible to survive a brain or brainstem stroke, it often leads to permanently disabling injuries, including paralysis and lasting impairment to one’s balance, vision, hearing, and speech.

We were proud to advocate for this client and help them get reimbursed for some of their medical expenses. When severe and debilitating injuries result from a medical provider’s failure to provide the level of care necessary to avoid accidental injuries, they should be held accountable for their actions.
